TextForge does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on any external server. Your text never leaves your machine.

What TextForge does

TextForge is a Chrome extension that rewrites, summarizes, and edits text in your browser's text fields. It sends your text only to a local AI server running on your own computer (such as Ollama or LM Studio) via an endpoint URL that you configure. No third party ever receives your text.

Data we do NOT collect

What is stored locally

TextForge stores the following settings using chrome.storage.sync:

These settings are synced across your own Chrome profiles via Google's built-in Chrome Sync infrastructure. They are never sent to us or any third party beyond Google's standard Chrome Sync service, which is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Network access

The extension requests broad network permissions (http://*/* and https://*/*) solely to allow the content script to fetch from your user-configured AI endpoint, which can be any IP address on your local network (e.g. a second machine running Ollama). The extension makes no outbound requests other than to the endpoint URL you explicitly set in the settings popup.

Permissions explained

Children's privacy

TextForge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the extension after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
